Accessibility statement
Our commitment
HeroWOD.com (the "site") should work for everyone who wants to honor these heroes, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What we do
- Text and controls meet WCAG AA color contrast on our dark theme.
- Everything can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Buttons that show only an icon have labels for screen readers.
- Each page has one main heading, and headings follow in order.
- Form fields have labels, and errors are linked to the field they describe.
- Hero photos always have a text description.
- Pages work on phones, tablets and computers without scrolling sideways, and buttons and links are large enough to tap.
- Animation is kept small and turns off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Automated accessibility checks run on every page, on phone and desktop screen sizes, before each change goes live.
Known limitations
- The Cloudflare Turnstile check on some forms, and Stripe's payment fields on billing pages, come from those companies. We chose them partly for their accessibility, but we don't control them.
- Comments, profiles, group descriptions and photos posted by members may not always meet these standards.
If something gets in your way, please tell us.
Feedback
Email support@herowod.com. Tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and assistive technology you use, if any. We'll reply, and we'll help you get what you need another way while we work on a fix.
Compatibility
The site is designed for current versions of Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and is tested with phone and desktop screen sizes. It relies on the accessibility features those browsers and your device provide.
